Don't touch that! (you don't know where its been)

My kids love to play with my cooking utensils. They are always stealing the spatulas, wooden spoons, and tongs from the crock that sits on the counter. I hate having to wash them all of the time. But hey, if it keeps them busy, so long as nobody loses an eye or anything else, it's fine with me.

Tonight was one of those nights. The boys were using two large plastic spoons as swords or light sabers. I'm not sure what century of play they were engaged in, I just know that they were dueling. My 3 year old daughter, being the tomboy she is, needed to get into the act. She wanted me to show her the container so she could pick her weapon. She went for the large plastic ladle.

One that resembles this:

After grabbing the handle, she went flying across the kitchen. She ran up behind W. and shoved the ladle between his legs. Now, because it's a ladle the scoop part is pretty much "cupping" him. He let out the loudest sound I've ever heard. He jumped up, how high are my ceilings? About 8 feet in the air. If he were a cat, his claws would still have him hanging upside down. I laughed so hard I cried.

W. is fine. He didn't "lose" anything during the incident.
The ladle is in the dishwasher. The dishwasher is set to sani-rinse.

He really should be thankful it wasn't this utensil:

I was in college before I knew that spatula was not pronounced "spa-toola." It is how my mother always pronounced it. I was actually in a group of people and suddenly noticed a lull after I was talking about needing to buy a spa-toola for my kitchen.

I thought it was my breath or something. :)
