Lock Me Up And Throw Away The Key

Mr. Schmitty has been working the later shift all week. This leaves me alone to run the joint. The kids have been fairly cooperative, which is lucky for them.

For those of you who don't know, I have been diagnosed with PMDD (Premenstrual dysphoric disorder). PMDD is a severe form of PMS which affects about 5% of menstruating women. Not every month is as bad as others, but some months are REALLY bad.

That would be this month.

I am the most irritable, moody bitch right now. I don't want to be a mom, I don't want to be a wife, hell, I don't even want to be in the same room with myself. I just want everyone to leave me alone. Don't touch me, don't talk to me, and seriously, don't piss me off.

And pissing me off is easily done at the moment. Like, don't breathe, k?

I've been channeling Linda Blair all week. My head's all spinning and I keep spewing out curse words in foreign languages.

This I do, of course, in my own head because, well, I don't want to lose the kids to foster care. On the outside I'm all, "Sure, honey" "Of course, sweetie". On the inside, I'm ready to run screaming from the house.

I have to keep my cool. The kids aren't the problem, the dog isn't the problem, hell, Mr. Schmitty isn't even the problem! Well, at least this time he isn't.

I have absolutely no one to pawn the blame off on. I have to take full credit for my foul attitude. It's me and my screwed up hormonal system.

It sucks to be a girl.

Curse words in foreign languages? That's pretty bad.

I suppose it's silly to ask, but is there medication for this sort of thing?

Special soundproof wings in hospitals? :-)

Sounds pretty rough. Hope you feel more like yourself soon.

Amen Sista! I get that way too. I am so glad to hear I am not the only one. Sometimes after I blow up I think, "That really isn't that big of a deal, I mean the kids are free, to breathe in the same room as me."

So sorry, that blows. Wish I had some wisdom!

Seriously, if men had to put up with periods, PMS, peri-monopause, hot flashes and blood all over the damn place every month...there would be free spas every month and no work during "those days."

I feel for you. All I can suggest is an appletini. Getting liquored up usually worked for me....

Man, that sucks. I hope you feel better soon. I get real bitchy too but it seems like that's an every day occurance, between 5 and 7:30 pm when I'm stressing to get things in order for the night. I agree with Maria, sounds like you need a stiff drink right now. Cheers!

You need to develop a code. Something that doesn't include curse words (cause then you can't use them any other time) something like 'elephant' or 'feminine hygiene products' and teach the kids that means Keep. The. Hell. Away and there are cookies in the cupboard. They are dinner...

Girl parts ARE NUTS.

Not. Fair.

Hang in. And thanks much for coming by.

That stinks. Sorry to hear you have to go through that. I have had some problems of that sort (less than yours, certainly, but still problematic). I call it "Monthly Mental Illness." Something that has made a big difference for me is an herbal supplement called Chaste Berry Extract (from Enzymatic Therapy). It has worked wonders for me, and it's cheaper than going on the pill. Regardless, I hope you find something that helps (other than fostercare, haha)
